Erasure @ The Fox Theater – October 4th 2011

Erasure  dropped by The Fox Theater in Oakland tonight while on their “Total Pop” tour . And while the band brought out their classic sounds, the crowd had a chance to break out their blast-from-the-past gear. Vince Clarke and Andy Bell weren’t the only ones sporting feathers, sequins, leather and masks. (You know a show is going to be good when the frontman comes out wearing a sequined coat and a roman helmet.)

The Fox crowd crammed into the sold-out venue anxious to hear the older favorites and the new gems.

The elaborate stage was reminiscent of a Gothic cathedral (complete with gargoyles!) and complimented Bell’s Gregorian-esque voice. From his Gothic pulpit he commanded attention with his voice and attire. The band catered to it’s audience and fans, old and new, fell in love all over again. Oh L’amor!

Erasure’s “Total Pop” Tour ended in Budapest in November 2011 so now the wait begins in hopes that it is not another four years before we hear more haunting-industrial love songs from Clarke and Bell.
