First City Festival comes to Monterey!

First City Festival
August 24th and 25th, 2013
The Monterey Fair and Event Center

June, 1967: The Monterey Fair and Event Center hosted one of the country’s first major music festivals: The Monterey Pop Festival. Not only great in terms of the mass number of attendees, the concert featured, then lesser known, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who and many more.

Fast forward to August 24th and 25th, 2013. No, it’s not the return of The Monterey Pop Festival, but perhaps something just as good. The First City Festival boasts a number of well-known acts: Modest Mouse, Passion Pit, MGMT, Neko Case and many more. In addition to the better-known acts, First City Festival features an amazing lineup of bands you might not be as familiar with but should not miss. For example, check out artist’s artist Devendra Banhart as he’s sure to be hauntingly entertaining. Mesmerizing, folky and psychedelic, he’ll be a true nod to the venue’s musical roots. Plus, be sure to catch San Francisco faves, The Dodos: great songwriting, awesome melodies and a gutsy duo will make for a great performance. And don’t miss Bleached as the LA sisters showcase their own brand of SoCal punk-rock (think Ramones meet Blondie and then they meet up with Best Coast). It can only mean fun.

Coachella pro-promoters, Goldenvoice are throwing the shindig August 24th and 25th so you know that in addition to great performances, there will be food, carnival rides and much, much more.
